The baby platypus is a very interesting and unique animal. A baby platypus is also called a puggle, which is a term that is also used for the young of echidnas, another Australian mammal.

The baby platypus is born from an egg, but it also suckles on its mother’s milk after it hatches. This makes it one of the few animals that are both oviparous and mammalian.

It is very small and fragile when it is born. It weighs about 50 to 80 grams and is about the size of a nickel. The baby platypus cannot swim when it is born. It stays close to its mother, who teaches it how to swim and find food. It takes about five months for a baby platypus to become independent.

A male baby platypus is venomous. It has a stinger on the back of its hind legs that can inject venom into its enemies. The venom is used mainly for fighting with other males during the mating season.

A baby platypus does not have a stomach. It has a simple digestive system that allows food to pass quickly from its mouth to its intestines. This means that it needs to eat almost constantly.

It has a unique vision. It can move each of its eyes independently, which allows it to look forward and backward at the same time.

There are over 40 species of platypuses that exist in the world. They can vary in size, shape, and color, depending on their habitat and environment.

The platypus is endangered by many threats, such as habitat loss, pollution, and over-harvesting for traditional medicine and the aquarium trade. It needs our protection and conservation efforts to survive.
